The local business community is very important to us here at Garcia Insurance. Keeping business local allows our New Orleans community to thrive and gives all business owners the support to keep the economy strong.
Because of our commitment to the success of our local community, we have decided that every month we will showcase one small business that is making a big difference in New Orleans.
Our first small business spotlight goes to (drum roll please)…
Design Management Group, owned by Ryan McCroskey. I first met Ryan through the networking group, Business Networking International, and we have been friends and business acquaintances ever since.
He’s done construction work for myself, clients and a few other employees here at Garcia Insurance and it’s safe to say he is great at his job. Plus – he believes in the success of our local community and people and goes above and beyond to give back.
Here’s a little peak into a company that is making huge strides here in New Orleans:
Design Management Group (DMG) has seen great success which they attribute to their experience, professionalism and superior craftsmanship.
Before starting DMG, Ryan worked for other companies. When he realized that certain standards within those companies didn’t exactly meet his own, he decided to start his own company; one that truly promises to keep every project on time and on budget. That’s the motto of DMG, not a marketing ploy.
He has created a company that is known for their extreme attention to detail and a superior customer service which sets them apart from the rest.
What does Design Management Group specialize in?
Design Management Group specializes in renovation work, new construction, blueprints, commercial renovations and specialty projects like wine cellars, stamped concrete floors and countertops and fire features in New Orleans.
One of the aspects of living and working in New Orleans that Ryan loves and keeps him inspired is the opportunity to work on the various types of architecture that New Orleans has to offer.
“Whether we are doing something modern in Lakeview or a historical renovation Uptown, there is always something different that is putting our knowledge and skills to the test,” he says.
Giving back
Not only did Ryan grow up in New Orleans and start a business in New Orleans, he is also adamant about giving back to New Orleans. Every year in August he encourages local non-profit organizations to submit proposals of construction projects that they need completed.
In September, he picks one project, negotiates with his partners and gets donations, then completes the local non-profit’s construction project free of charge. This year, DMG is granting the project to Metro Center for Battered Women, a non-profit that provides shelter to battered women in the state of Louisiana.
Restoring and reviving New Orleans
If that isn’t enough to showcase what a top-notch local business DMG is, they recently signed a contract with HGTV for a show called “Small House, Big Easy”. During this series DMG will completely restore a small home with historical significance to the city of New Orleans. We can’t give out any more details – but exciting things are in the works!
Small businesses build community
We are excited to share the story of Ryan McCroskey and Design Management Group. We look up to Ryan who has created a successful locally owned business and that his work through DMG is also helping to revive our local economy and spirit here in New Orleans.
